Arg-e Rayen
Arg-e Rayen (Rayen Castle) is an extraordinary 1,500-year-old mud-brick citadel situated at the foot of Mount Hezar in Kerman Province. Spanning over 20,000 square meters, this vast adobe fortress is the second-largest mud-brick structure in the world after Arg-e Bam. Famous for its ancient metalworking guilds that produced swords and daggers, local folklore tells of phantom blacksmiths whose hammer strikes echo through empty alleyways and spectral guards patrolling its high watchtowers.
