Castello di Montebello
Castello di Montebello (Montebello Castle) is a medieval fortress perched high on a hill overlooking the Marecchia Valley in Poggio Torriana, near Rimini. The castle is world-famous for the tragic legend of Azzurrina (Guendalina Malatesta), a five-year-old albino girl who mysteriously vanished into the castle's subterranean ice cellar on June 21, 1375. Every five years on the summer solstice, recordings taken in the ice house allegedly capture her weeping voice, making Montebello one of Italy's most celebrated haunted castles.
