Tham Chang Cave
Tham Chang Cave (also known as Jang Cave) is a famous limestone cavern located in Vang Vieng, Vientiane Province. Historically used as a vital subterranean sanctuary by local villagers fleeing Chinese Haw bandit invasions during the 19th century, the cave is revered for its crystal-clear natural spring and majestic stalactite formations. According to Lao folklore, the cavern is guarded by ancient cave spirits (Phi Tham) who protect those seeking refuge, while lingering whispers of past wartime refugees still echo through its deep chambers.
