    Karosta Prison

    LiepājaLatvia1900

Karosta Prison in Liepāja is renowned as one of Europe’s most intense haunted military detention centres. Constructed at the turn of the twentieth century as an infirmary for Tsarist sailors, it quickly converted into a brutal military jail operated by Tsar Nicholas II, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet KGB. Thousands of naval officers, political dissidents, and deserters suffered harsh discipline and secret executions behind its red-brick walls. Today, visitors and paranormal researchers report footsteps in empty corridors, unexplainable cold blasts, self-opening steel doors, and persistent spectral apparitions.

    Liepāja Northern Forts

    LiepājaLatvia1894

The Liepāja Northern Forts (Ziemeļu forti) are massive, eroding Tsarist military coastal fortifications situated directly on the Baltic Sea shore north of Liepāja. Constructed between 1894 and 1908 as part of Tsar Alexander III’s Naval Fortress, the vast bunker complex featured heavy artillery batteries, subterranean ammunition bunkers, and barracks. In 1908, Tsar Nicholas II ordered the fortress decommissioned and blown up, leaving giant cracked concrete structures collapsing into crashing sea waves. Unlit subterranean bunkers and half-submerged ruins are associated with phantom soldier encounters, unexplained gunfire echoes, and disembodied voices.
