    Kellie's Castle

    Batu GajahMalaysia1915–1926

Kellie's Castle in Batu Gajah, Perak, is one of Malaysia's most celebrated colonial landmarks and paranormal mysteries. Built by Scottish rubber planter William Kellie-Smith starting in 1915, the grand mansion was designed to blend Greco-Roman, Moorish, and Indian architectural styles. Construction abruptly halted in 1926 following Kellie-Smith's sudden death from pneumonia in Lisbon, Portugal. Abandoned to the surrounding jungle for decades, the incomplete castle became famous for stories of spectral night sentries, sightings of William Kellie-Smith pacing the corridors, mysterious secret underground tunnels, and haunting memories of the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic that struck the construction workers.
