    99 Door Mansion

    Nibong TebalMalaysia1840s

The 99 Door Mansion (officially known as Caledonia House or Byram Estate Mansion) is a mysterious, derelict 19th-century colonial manor situated deep within an oil palm plantation near the border of Perak and Penang. Built in the 1840s by the wealthy British Ramsden family, who controlled vast sugar cane and rubber plantations across Malaya, the grand two-storey estate features exactly 99 handcrafted wooden doors arranged in sets of three per room. Famous for the unsolved 1948 gangland assassination of its owner, John St. Maur Ramsden, as well as WWII Japanese military atrocities and witch-doctor black magic rituals, the ruin is widely considered one of Malaysia's most intensely haunted plantation estates.
