Sidi Chamharouch Shrine
Sidi Chamharouch is a legendary mountain shrine situated at an elevation of over 2,350 meters in the High Atlas Mountains along the trekking route to Mount Toubkal. Centered around a massive boulder painted bright white, the site is venerated across North Africa as the court and burial place of Sidi Chamharouch, the King of the Jinn. Pilgrims travel from across Morocco to seek spiritual court rulings, exorcisms, and relief from spirit possessions, surrounded by dramatic gorge scenery, rushing mountain streams, and sacrifice altars.
