Dhammayangyi Temple
Dhammayangyi Temple is the largest, most massive, and most sinister structure among the thousands of ancient monuments scattered across the plains of Bagan. Constructed between 1167 and 1170 CE under the reign of the tyrannical King Narathu, this imposing red-brick pyramid temple remains notorious for its bloody history, cruel construction methods, bricked-up inner corridors, and dark rumors of royal ghosts and restless spirits.
