Mugling–Narayanghat Highway
The Mugling–Narayanghat highway section, carving through the steep Trishuli River gorge in central Nepal, is vital for linking Kathmandu with southern plains and Pokhara. It is also infamous as Nepal's most dangerous roadway, claiming hundreds of lives in tragic bus crashes, fatal landslides, and vehicles plunging into the raging river. Lacking illumination along sharp hairpins, night drivers frequently report encounters with phantom hitchhikers, sudden apparitions standing on cliff edges, phantom headlights driving straight toward oncoming cars before disappearing, and unexplainable vehicular stalls near fatal crash zones.
