    Fort Santiago

    ManilaPhilippines1593

Situated within the walled historic city of Intramuros in Manila, Fort Santiago is one of the most historically significant and intensely haunted fortresses in the Philippines. Built by Spanish conquistador Miguel López de Legazpi in 1593, this stone citadel witnessed centuries of colonial rule, imprisonment, and wartime slaughter. Its dark subterranean dungeons along the Pasig River served as execution chambers where hundreds of Filipino patriots and WWII prisoners perished.

Situated along the northern bank of the Pasig River in San Miguel, Manila, Malacañang Palace is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the Philippines.
