Krzyżtopór Castle
Situated in the countryside of Ujazd, Krzyżtopór Castle is a colossal seventeenth-century ruined palace fortress that was once the largest residential building in Europe prior to Versailles. Designed around astrological and calendar symbolism, the Mannerist structure was built by the wealthy Polish nobleman Krzysztof Ossoliński. Devastated during the Swedish Deluge shortly after completion, the vast hollow ruins remain shrouded in tales of black magic, spectral hussar knights, and lingering shadows.
