Al Thakhira Mangroves and Salt Flats
Al Thakhira Mangroves represent one of Qatar's oldest and largest natural estuarine ecosystems, located just north of Al Khor. Comprising dense grey mangrove forests, winding tidal channels, and vast coastal salt flats (sabkha), the reserve holds deep ecological and historical importance. Fishermen and local kayakers tell eerie tales of phantom lights, disembodied cries, and coastal spirits wandering the marshes.
