Al Koot Fort (Doha Fort)
Al Koot Fort, commonly known as Doha Fort, is a white stone fortress standing at the edge of Souq Waqif in central Doha. Built originally in 1880 as a police station and converted into a prison in 1927, its thick walls held convicts, insurgents, and guards. Visitors and local vendors speak of restless prison ghosts, clanking chains, and shadow figures in the former jail cells.
