Iulia Hasdeu Castle
Located in Câmpina in Prahova County, Iulia Hasdeu Castle is a unique nineteenth-century stone folly globally known as 'The Castle of Spiritism' or 'The Temple of Iulia'. Constructed between 1893 and 1896 by prominent Romanian scholar, writer, and academician Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, the castle was designed entirely through spiritualist séances following the tragic death of his genius nineteen-year-old daughter, Iulia Hasdeu, from tuberculosis in 1888. Built according to detailed instructions allegedly dictated by Iulia's spirit from beyond the grave, the castle is steeped in esoteric symbolism, occult architecture, and decades of documented paranormal phenomena.
