    Corvin Castle

    HunedoaraRomania1446

Imposingly situated over the Zlaști River in Hunedoara, Corvin Castle (also known as Hunyadi Castle or Castelul Corvinilor) is one of the largest and most magnificent Gothic-Renaissance fortresses in Europe. Commissioned in the mid-fifteenth century by Voivode John Hunyadi (Iancu de Hunedoara), the castle features soaring defensive towers, drawbridges, and dark subterranean dungeons. Famous for housing Vlad III Tepes (Vlad the Impaler) during his seven-year imprisonment, Corvin Castle harbors gruesome legends of Turkish prisoners, tragic betrayals, and persistent hauntings that make it one of Romania's most active paranormal hotspots.
