Pulau Tekong
Pulau Tekong is Singapore's largest outlying island, located off the northeastern coast in the Johor Strait. Since the 1980s, the island has served as the primary Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC) for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), where male Singaporean citizens undergo mandatory military enlistment. Isolated, densely forested, and rich in WWII military history, Pulau Tekong is universally famous across Singapore for its chilling military ghost lore, headlined by the iconic '12th Bunk' legend, phantom marching platoons, nocturnal jungle spirits, and vengeful Pontianak encounters.
