Matilda House
Matilda House, constructed in 1902, is one of the oldest surviving colonial bungalows in Singapore. Built by Irish merchant Joseph William Cashin for his wife, the single-story tropical villa stands as a magnificent example of Edwardian-influenced plantation architecture in Punggol. Left abandoned for decades amid surrounding jungle growth, the estate gained nationwide notoriety as the 'Punggol Ghost House', famous for supernatural encounters involving a long-haired female spirit sitting in trees, doors slamming shut, and dark legends of divine protection that thwarted multiple attempts at demolition before its restoration into a private condominium clubhouse in 2015.
