Kodok Historic Fortress & Fashoda Citadel
Kodok Historic Fortress, historically known worldwide as Fashoda, is the royal heartland of the ancient Shilluk Kingdom and the site of the famous 1898 Fashoda Incident between French and British imperial forces. Combining centuries of sacred royal traditions with colonial military siege history, the ruined mud-brick ramparts, royal ceremonial grounds, and riverfront fortifications are shrouded in tales of ancestral kings, phantom French soldiers, and royal curses.
