Old Nimule Fort & River Post
Old Nimule Fort & River Post in Eastern Equatoria stands near the border with Uganda where the White Nile rushes through narrow rock gorges into South Sudan. Originally built in the late 19th century as a key border defense post, customs station, and river transit fort, the ruined stone ramparts and river overlook are steeped in local Madi traditions of guardian river spirits, phantom sentries, and haunting nocturnal bugle calls.
