Bogesund Castle
Bogesund Castle (Bogesunds Slott) near Vaxholm in the Stockholm archipelago is a striking seventeenth-century fortress with a troubled history of neglect and legal feuds. Built by Per Brahe the Younger in the 1640s and later altered into a medieval romantic manor, the castle spent decades locked and abandoned. This prolonged period of isolation fueled stories of ghostly residents wandering its dark towers.
