Bigo bya Mugenyi
Bigo bya Mugenyi in Sembabule District is Uganda’s largest and most enigmatic ancient archaeological earthworks complex, dating back to 1300–1500 CE. Associated with the legendary demigods of the Bachwezi empire, these massive ditch-and-bank fortifications span over 10 kilometres along the Katonga River. Believed to be guarded by demigod spirits, the silent ruins evoke profound dread among local villagers and visitors alike.
