Nevytsky Castle
Nevytsky Castle stands in dramatic ruins atop a volcanic hill overlooking the Uzh River valley in Zakarpattia. Built in the thirteenth century to defend mountain pass trade routes, the fortress became infamous under the cruel reign of Countess Elizabeth Bathory's relative, known locally as the 'Bad Lady.' Her horrific blood rituals and the tragic spirits of forced peasant laborers still haunt the crumbling stone keep.
