Held for over three centuries by the Franco-Italian Drugeth noble family, the fortress is famous for the tragic legend of the White Lady—a count's daughter walled up alive within the castle masonry after betraying secrets to her Polish lover. Her weeping ghost wanders the bastions and subterranean vaults during storm nights.
