Kaole Ruins
The Kaole Ruins, situated five kilometres south of historic Bagamoyo, encompass the remains of a 13th-century Swahili trading settlement. Featuring two ancient coral-rag mosques, a royal tomb complex with thirty pillar tombs, and a legendary water well that never dries, Kaole is shrouded in coastal folklore. Visitors and local villagers speak of phantom prayers echoing through the moss-covered coral arches and ancient spirits guarding the sacred site.
