Converted into Martha Washington College for young women in 1858, the building served as a improvised hospital during the Civil War, caring for wounded soldiers from both Union and Confederate armies. Today, this historic luxury hotel is famous for its lingering ghosts, including 'Beth,' a young student who nursed a dying Union officer, a spectral Phantom Horse roaming the grounds, and dark bloodstains that mysteriously re-emerge on floorboards in Room 217.
