Renowned in the Roaring Twenties for offering private baths, ceiling fans, and chilled water in all two hundred guest rooms, the Redmont has hosted celebrities, politicians, and music icons—including country music legend Hank Williams, who spent his final night alive here in December 1952. Beyond its architectural elegance and luxury hospitality, the hotel is widely celebrated as one of Alabama's most haunted historic buildings, famous for phantom sightings of its former owner Clifford Stiles in the penthouse, a spectral woman in a 1920s gown, and a ghostly dog roaming the upper hallways.

Today, Sloss Furnaces is preserved as a National Historic Landmark and is widely recognized as one of the most intensely haunted industrial sites in North America, renowned for the terrifying ghost of 'Slag' Wormwood, disembodied screams from the furnace catwalks, and aggressive poltergeist encounters.
