    The Seelbach Hilton Louisville

    LouisvilleUnited States1905

Located in the heart of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, The Seelbach Hilton opened in May 1905 as an opulent Beaux-Arts luxury hotel built by Bavarian brothers Otto and Louis Seelbach. Famous for its extravagant architecture, grand marble staircase, and world-unique Rookwood pottery Rathskeller, the hotel quickly became a playground for Gilded Age tycoons, U.S. presidents, and Prohibition-era gangsters including Al Capone and Lucky Luciano. Immortalized by F. Scott Fitzgerald as the setting for Tom and Daisy Buchanan's wedding in 'The Great Gatsby,' the hotel is equally famous for its ghostly resident, the tragic 'Lady in Blue,' who haunts the eighth-floor hallways and elevator shafts.
