The Allen House in Monticello, Arkansas, is an iconic Queen Anne Victorian mansion renowned for its tragic romance, secret floorboard letters, and intense paranormal activity. Built in 1906 by wealthy businessman Joe Lee Allen, the home became the epicenter of a heartbreaking local mystery when his daughter Ladell Allen committed suicide in 1948 by consuming mercury cyanide. For nearly four decades, Ladell's grieving mother kept her bedroom sealed from the outside world. Decades later, new owners uncovered eighty-four hidden letters under the floorboards detailing Ladell's doomed secret romance with a married man.
