The Vermont State House
The Vermont State House, located in Montpelier, is one of the oldest and best-preserved state capitols in the United States. Designed by architect Thomas Silloway and completed in 1859, the building is renowned for its brilliant Greek Revival portico, gold-leafed dome, and statue of Ceres, Agriculture Goddess. Beyond its political role as the seat of Vermont's General Assembly, the state house carries a famous haunted history, including disembodied footsteps, self-moving gavels, and the ghost of Black Agnes.
