Sweet Springs Sanitarium
Sweet Springs Sanitarium, originally founded in 1792 as a luxury mineral spring resort, boasts a long and complex history as a grand Antebellum retreat, state tuberculosis sanitarium, and geriatric care facility. Designed in part by Thomas Jefferson's protege William B. Phillips, the grand brick hotel and surrounding grounds are nationally famous for intense paranormal activity, including shadow figures, disembodied crying, and apparitions of former patients and Victorian guests.
