Constructed between 1837 and 1839 by wealthy French Creole planter Jacques Télesphore Roman, the antebellum estate relies on a dark history of enslaved labor. Beyond its historic architecture, Oak Alley is famous for haunting paranormal accounts, including sightings of a mysterious lady dressed in black, unexplained drafts, and disembodied whispers in the mansion hall.
