Z Ward (Glenside Asylum)
Completed in 1885 within the Parkside Lunatic Asylum (now Glenside Hospital) in Adelaide, Z Ward was South Australia's high-security facility for the 'criminally insane'. Housed behind an inescapable sunken Ha-Ha wall until its closure in 1973, Z Ward contained patients guilty of violent crimes, murders, and severe mental illness. Today, this perfectly preserved Victorian architectural relic is regarded as one of Australia's most chilling and paranormally active locations, famous for unexplained shadow figures, cell doors slamming shut, and disembodied voices.
