    Pentridge Prison

    CoburgAustralia1851–1997

Pentridge Prison (HM Prison Pentridge), located in Coburg, Melbourne, was Victoria's central maximum-security prison for nearly 150 years from 1851 until its final closure in 1997. Known historically as 'The Bluestone College', the sprawling penal complex held thousands of Australia's most notorious criminals, including bushranger Ned Kelly, Mark 'Chopper' Read, and Ronald Ryan—the last man legally executed in Australia in 1967. Preserved divisions, including H Division and D Division, are renowned for reports of phantom footsteps, disembodied cries, and oppressive supernatural energy.
