Old Tennent Cemetery
Located on Tennent Road in Manalapan Township, New Jersey, Old Tennent Cemetery is a historic 18th-century burial ground surrounding the historic 1751 Old Tennent Presbyterian Church. Situated on Perrine Ridge directly overlooking the Monmouth Battlefield, the church and cemetery played a pivotal role during the Battle of Monmouth on June 28, 1778, serving as a field hospital and artillery post. Shrouded in Revolutionary War lore, the cemetery is reputedly haunted by fallen Continental soldiers, British officers, and the spirit of Captain Henry Fauntleroy, whose leg was torn off by a cannonball while resting against a tombstone.
