So Lo Pun Village
So Lo Pun Village, situated in the isolated northeastern New Territories within Plover Cove Country Park, is famous as one of Hong Kong's most eerie and mysterious ghost villages. Literally translating to 'Lock Compass Village' in Cantonese, the settlement was settled by the Hakka Wong family in 1671 and completely abandoned in the mid-20th century under chilling circumstances. Surrounded by dense jungle and overgrown marshes, the village is notorious for magnetic field anomalies that lock or spin hikers' compasses, electronic equipment failures, and terrifying local legends of a sudden overnight mass disappearance.
