    Izadkhast Castle

IzadkhastIran (Islamic Republic of)Sasanian Empire / 3rd Century CE

Izadkhast Castle is a monumental 1,700-year-old mud-brick citadel perched precariously atop a singular isolated rock plateau near the boundary of Fars and Isfahan provinces. Built during the Sasanian era, this multi-story desert fortress resembles an ancient high-rise city. Abandoned in the 20th century following earthquakes and social decay, local residents tell haunting tales of phantom soldiers, disembodied cries echoing through deserted alleys, and spectral shadows guarding the ancient ruins.

    Tis Jinn Cemetery

ChabaharIran (Islamic Republic of)Pre-Islamic / First Millennium BCE

Tis Jinn Cemetery (Gorestan-e Jenn-ha) in the ancient coastal village of Tis near Chabahar is an eerie burial ground featuring massive tombs carved directly into solid bedrock. Dating back over two millennia, the oversized graves led local Balochi villagers to believe that human hands could never have carved such stone tombs, concluding that the burial site belonged to a tribe of giant Jinn. Villagers report ghostly wailing and weeping echoing from the stones at night.
