    Chellah Necropolis

    RabatMorocco3rd Century BCE–14th Century CE

Chellah Necropolis is a medieval fortified Islamic necropolis built atop an ancient Phoenician and Roman city overlooking the Bou Regreg river in Rabat. Famed for its towering Marinid minaret, overgrown ancient stones, and massive resident stork colonies, Chellah is steeped in tales of guardian Jinn, hidden underground treasures, and sacred eel pools where local women historically sought spiritual blessings. Visitors often experience sudden eerie silences, subtle wisps of mist, and unexplained feelings of being observed among the ancient royal tombs.

    Volubilis

    MeknesMorocco3rd Century BCE–8th Century CE

Volubilis, known locally as Walili, is Morocco's finest Roman archaeological site, situated on a fertile plain near the holy city of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. Originally a Berber settlement that grew into a prosperous Roman provincial capital famed for its olive oil production, monumental basilica, and preserved floor mosaics, the city was eventually devastated by an earthquake in the eighteenth century. Beyond its archaeological splendor, local tradition associates the ancient ruins with spectral apparitions, nocturnal Roman soldier sentries, and ancient pagan spirits.
