Chindini Coastal Caves
The Chindini Coastal Caves, hollowed out by crashing Indian Ocean waves along the southern tip of Grande Comore, represent a complex network of volcanic sea grottoes and subterranean chambers. Historically utilized by Swahili mariners as natural shelters and ritual sanctuaries, the caves are steeped in ancient Comorian maritime lore. Local fishermen revere the cavernous grottoes as the sacred domain of marine jinn, reporting phantom sea lights, disembodied singing rising from underwater caverns, and ghostly sightings.
