Odessa Catacombs
The Odessa Catacombs form one of the world's largest subterranean tunnel networks, stretching over 2,500 kilometers beneath Odesa and its surrounding countryside. Originally carved by limestone quarrying in the nineteenth century, the labyrinth served as a haven for smugglers, criminals, and World War II Soviet partisans. Dozens who perished in its total darkness continue to haunt the silent, freezing stone corridors.
