    Arcade Independence Square

    ColomboSri Lanka1889

Arcade Independence Square is today a premier outdoor shopping and dining lifestyle complex situated in Colombo's prestigious Cinnamon Gardens district. However, behind its pristine white Victorian-era colonnades lies a somber history as the Jawatte Lunatic Asylum, constructed by British colonial authorities in 1889. Despite extensive multi-million dollar architectural renovations, retail staff and night security guards report unexplained footsteps, cold spots, disembodied cries, and spectral apparitions in white.
