    Fisher's Ghost Site

    CampbelltownAustralia1826–Present

Fisher's Ghost Site, located along Fisher's Ghost Creek in Campbelltown, New South Wales, is the location of Australia's most famous and historically documented ghost story. In June 1826, Frederick Fisher, a wealthy freed convict farmer, vanished mysteriously. Four months later, a prominent local resident named John Farley reported seeing Fisher's glowing apparition sitting on a wooden fence bridge, pointing silently toward a nearby creek bed. A police investigation guided by Indigenous trackers uncovered Fisher's shallow grave at the exact spot pointed out by the spirit, leading to the murder conviction and hanging of his greedy neighbor, George Worrall.
