Kaashidhoo Kuruhinna Tharaagandu
Kaashidhoo Kuruhinna Tharaagandu is one of the largest and most extensively excavated pre-Islamic Buddhist monastery ruins in the Maldives, situated on Kaashidhoo Island at the northern tip of Kaafu Atoll. Excavated in the late 1990s by Maldivian archaeologists, the sprawling complex spans over 1,800 square meters and includes stupa bases, assembly halls, and ritual baths. Surrounded by quiet palm groves, local islanders revere the ruins as an ancient sanctuary filled with spirit activity.
