Koh-i-Chiltan Peak
Koh-i-Chiltan (also known as Mount Chiltan) is a towering mountain peak rising 3,194 meters (10,479 feet) above sea level in the Chiltan mountain range of Quetta District, Balochistan. Located within the Hazarganji Chiltan National Park, the peak is named 'Chiltan'—derived from the Brahui and Balochi words for 'Forty Bodies' or 'Forty Spirits'. According to ancient local legend, forty holy infants who were abandoned on the mountain peak survived through divine intervention and still roam the treacherous crags, calling out to lost travelers and luring unsuspecting night trekkers off precipitous cliffs.
