House of Wonders
The House of Wonders, known locally in Swahili as Bayt al-Ajaib, is one of the most prominent historic landmarks on the Stone Town seafront in Zanzibar. Built in 1883 by Sultan Barghash bin Said, this towering ceremonial palace was famous for introducing electric lights and East Africa's first electric elevator. Behind its grand cast-iron columns and royal heritage lie persistent tales of royal spirits, unseen watchers, and strange lingering nocturnal shadows.
