    Kyichu Lhakhang is one of Bhutan's oldest and most sacred Himalayan Buddhist temples, dating back to the 7th century. According to ancient Tibetan historical chronicles, Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo constructed 108 border-subduing temples across the Himalayas in a single night to pin down a colossal supine demoness who was blocking the spread of Buddhism across Tibet and Bhutan. Kyichu Lhakhang was built specifically to pin down the demoness's left foot. The temple complex remains charged with intense spiritual activity, featuring reports of phantom footsteps echoing through ancient wooden corridors, unnatural vibrations beneath the floorboards where the demoness's foot is pinned, and strange luminescent orbs observed hovering near the inner sanctuary.
