    Perched high on Matautu Ridge overlooking the strategic entrance to Pago Pago Harbor, Blunts Point Battery is an exceptionally preserved World War II coastal defense site. Constructed by the U.S. Marine Corps immediately following the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, the battery features a massive 6-inch naval gun mounted on a heavy concrete emplacement. Designated a National Historic Landmark, this jungle-enveloped outpost is renowned for military hauntings, including phantom footsteps along WWII supply trails, disembodied shouting in military cadence, and ghost sightings of WWII Marine gun crews.
