    Brestovac Sanatorium is a sprawling, abandoned medical complex hidden in the thick forests of Mount Medvednica above Zagreb. Built in 1909 by journalist Milivoj Dežman out of love for the tragic actress Ljerka Šram, who suffered from tuberculosis, the facility became a premier pulmonary treatment hospital. However, during World War II, it was converted into a military hospital where hundreds of wounded soldiers were executed in 1945. Left to crumble after its final closure in 1968, Brestovac is now one of Croatia's most famous urban exploration and haunted hotspots.

    Daksa Island

    Daksa is a small, pine-covered island situated at the entrance of the Elafit archipelago near Dubrovnik. Inhabited for centuries by Franciscan friars who built a peaceful monastery in 1281, the island's history took a horrific turn in October 1944 during World War II. Following the liberation of Dubrovnik by Yugoslav partisan forces, 53 prominent citizens — including priests, mayor Petar Perikuća, and intellectuals — were summarily executed without trial on Daksa and buried in mass graves. Known locally as the 'Island of Ghosts,' it remains uninhabited and avoided by local mariners.

    Jurjevsko Cemetery, also known as the Old St. George's Cemetery, is an ancient burial ground located on the lush hills of Zagreb's Upper Town (Gornji Grad). Originally recorded in 1368 as a burial site for the poor and pauper population, it expanded in 1776 to become Zagreb's main municipal cemetery. Discontinued in 1876 when Mirogoj Cemetery opened, Jurjevsko became a romantic yet eerie park of crumbling tombstones, mausoleums, and dense ivy. It is widely considered one of Zagreb's most atmospheric and haunted historic locations.
