    Isdhoo Kuruhinna Stupa Site

    Isdhoo Kuruhinna is one of the most historically momentous archaeological sites in the Maldives, located on Isdhoo Island in Laamu Atoll. Here, archaeologists discovered the famous Isdhoo Lōmāfanu (1194 AD), the oldest surviving copper-plate royal edict in the Maldives, which documented the official conversion from Buddhism to Islam and the destruction of Buddhist idols. The ancient stupa site remains enveloped in solemn historical memory, local curse legends, and tales of nocturnal spectral guardians.
