    Fort St Angelo is an iconic bastioned fortress situated in the heart of the Grand Harbour in Birgu. Originally built in the medieval period as the Castrum Maris, it served as the headquarters of the Knights Hospitaller during the Great Siege of 1565. Beyond its military significance, it is internationally renowned for the haunting of the Grey Lady, a medieval noblewoman whose restless spirit has been reported by British military personnel and local staff for over a century.
