    Fort Ricasoli

    Fort Ricasoli is a massive 17th-century bastioned fortress dominating Gallows' Point in Kalkara at the entrance to Valletta's Grand Harbour. Built by the Order of Saint John, it is the largest fort in Malta. The site was the epicenter of the bloody 1807 Froberg Mutiny and suffered severe bombardment in World War II. Today, while serving as a world-famous film location for productions like Gladiator and Troy, the fort is reputed to be haunted by mutinous soldiers and executed prisoners.
